Just before we left to come to Blighty, Scott played a season for the Yardies rugby team in Wellington. It was a hard core, social team...the kind of team that would check first whether the opposition wanted to play with rolling subs, and then checking to see if they had 15 players to take the field! But as luck would have it, there were enough old team members now living in London to get a team together and take on the cream of Irish rugby!

Unfortunately Thommond Park was being used for a lower grade game on the 18th of April so we had to move our game elsewhere.

You can see highlights of the game here curtesy of the BBC! :)

There is something to be said for the Irish dress sense :)
The morning of the big game! This is probably how the mighty Blackness prepares before a test match.
With the atmosphere building, the team gathers for the mandatory team photo.
National anthems played, final team huddle before the big kick off!
And they are off!
Scott (wearing number 5) taking the ball up the middle!
Match over and like true athletes its beer time! Final score, 39-10 to the Yardies (with bonus point), who are now only three games away from the grand slam!
Again, this is probably what goes on in the dressing room after the mighty Blackness plays a test match!
Shane, ruing the one that got away!
