A [hot] weekend in Paris - Paris Airshow

The Paris Airshow, along with Farnborough, has been one of those shows that I've always wanted to attend. Mainly because there are aircraft that don't usually stray far from France like the Raphale, Mirage, Su2x and various Airbuses.

This year there were two main reasons I wanted to go to Paris. The Airbus A380 was having its first public outing and the Su27 was putting in a rare appearance.

Unfortunately it was a stinking hot day so it was just as well the others decided not to come with me. Also, the venue of Le Bourget left a lot to be desired. Some of the problems were a 7foot high security mesh fence between the crowd and the flight line, the crowd being herded in to one area about the size of a couple rugby fields (imagine 200,000 people in such a small space!), you couldn't walk up and down the entire flight line because most of it was fenced off and the flight line itself was miles from the crowd lines!

While I enjoyed seeing a lot of aircraft that I've never seen in real life before I doubt I will be going back to the next show.

Embraer had primo seats in front of their buildings for the show. When ever one of their aircraft would go past their supporters would go crazy :)
The show opened with 75 parachutists dropping in to the field.

Here's a tip for you. If you ever get the chance to go to a Zeppelin airshow...DONT! :) This Zeppelin was doing a few demo flights around Paris and at the same time getting some advertising in for the Olympics.
