A [hot] weekend in Paris - Paris Airshow

French aircraft took centre stage for the weekend with the star attraction being Airbus's newest addition, the A380.

A number of Airbus aircraft were on hand to please the crowd, the A318, A340 and the huge A380 all took part in the days flying display.

Below - Getting ready for take off!

This was the first appearance of the A380 at a public airshow, and fittingly a large French crowd turned out to see "their" plane in action!

What was evident was the pride the French took in their aviation industry. When the A380 took off the atmosphere was electric, shouts of "magnifique" and "impressionnant" reverberated around the crowd! There was also a couple "Vive Le Francais" (and maybe you could also add Angleterre, Allemagne, l'Italie and Espagne as well!) in there too :)

Tell you what though, the A380 was awesome! The pictures don't do the aircraft justice! You really don't get a feel for the size of the plane unless someone is standing next to it.

The reason the display was done with the undercarriage down on the A380 was because it takes 30 seconds to raise and lower the wheels...and this has to be done in straight and level flight
