On Saturday 7 May, Jason, his dad and myself headed off to the VE Day Air show that was held at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford.

The Sally B (one one side and the more famous Memphis Bell on the other). This is the only airworthy B17 in England. Unfortunately due to new EU insurance regulations the Sally B has seen its insurance bill increase by something like 500% because its now treated the same as an airliner! So the old girl no longer flies

As well as old planes there were several period actors at the Air show too. This added that extra touch of authenticity to the event :)

Unfortunately due to rain some of the vintage aircraft weren't able to get off the ground (the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight doesn't fly in rain so as to protect their aircraft). When we mean rain...we mean torrential rain too!!

Not only was it wet but there was also a pretty good wind, and this also combined to stop some of the vintage aircraft getting in to the sky!

There are also several permanent static aircraft on display as well.

The museum is building a new enclosure for the aircraft that are on display in the outdoors. I think the new building is scheduled to open in the next couple of years.
