The Boswells and a Te Rata in England!

We were fortunate to have Whaea and Whetu join us during August for our summer holidays. It was a busy time making sure we saw all the sights of London.

We also visited Anne Boleyns home, the Queen at Windsor, marvelled Legoland's constructions, went to Mickey Mouse's place, wandered through Monet's garden's and were amazed by the battlefield's of the World Wars in France.

The next pages contain pictures from our trips around Southern England and Northern France.

Hever Castle

Hever Castle was the home of Anne Boleyn - one of the most famous Queen's of England. It dates back to the 12th century. Hever was the early home of Anne and Henry's daughter, who eventually became Elizabeth I, Mary Boleyn who supposedly had an illegitimate child to Henry and Anne of Cleves, who managed to survive being married to Henry.

We visited Hever with several other whanau from our Kohanga in London. The day was an absolute scorcher and the wasps were busy. Unfortunately we also experienced a delight of the hot English summer.... wasps stings. Three of our party were stung!

The grounds of the castle were amazing. Our tamariki enjoyed getting lost and found in the mazes and Henry VIII fronted an excellent, realistic jousting tournament.
