For our 11th Anniversary we decided to go to the Netherlands and, in particular, the Kuerkenhof Gardens to see the Tulips. The trip over on the ferry was a bit of a shocker. At first it was fun but after the catamaran lifting itself over continuous 4m swells the rolling motion soon got to us. Not everyone survived the crossing. This car quickly pulled over as we drove away from the ferry terminal in Calais.

This summer we are going to do some camping. So, to kick things off we decided to stay in a camp ground close to Amsterdam. This was after the dramas of going with no plans of where to stay. The first camp ground we called in to looked too much like Butlins (think 'Hi-de-hi') so we continued along the coast assuming that we wouldn't have any problems finding another camp ground... oh how wrong were we! We eventually ended up at Zeeburg which is a 20 minute tram ride from Amsterdam. Putting the tent up was a mission in itself in the windy conditions. At the end of a long day travelling, we were tired and grumpy so this didn't help us deciphering the assembly instructions. But we got there in the end and really enjoyed our first camping trip in Europe!
