"One single Anne Frank moves us more than countless others who suffered just as she did but whose faces have remained in the shadows. Perhaps it is better that way; if we were capable of taking in all the suffering of all those people, we would not be able to live" Primo Levi, Auschitz Survivor 1986 |

When we arrived at the Anne Frank museum in the morning, the queue extended around the building and down the side street. Although the line moves quickly, we chose to come back later in the day. When we did, in the late afternoon, we were in within minutes! The house where Anne and her family hid was worth the trip to Amsterdam. The story of Anne and her family is moving and the building is a taonga - a treasure which has been preserved. The top rooms have been purposely left unfurnished in their memory. |
